What Is a Change of Ownership?
A Change of Ownership updates the legal account holder for your services. This can include:
- Domain name ownership
- Web hosting account ownership
- Related website and email account responsibility
When Should You Use This Process?
- A business is sold
- A domain was registered under the wrong person or company
- Ownership is moving between directors, partners, or family members
- You want billing and account control to be moved to someone else
Before You Start
Please have the following ready:
- Domain name(s) to transfer
- Hosting account details (if hosting is included)
- Current owner details
- New owner details
- Contact email and phone for both parties
- Supporting documents (if required)
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Download and complete the form.
Step 2: Add current owner details (name/business name, contact details, eligibility identifiers where applicable).
Step 3: Add new owner details (name/business name, contact details, eligibility identifiers where applicable).
Step 4: Sign the declarations.
- Current owner signature
- New owner signature
- Date of signing
Witness/staff signature is optional unless specifically requested.
If the current owner is not available to sign, these two checkbox items are mandatory:
- Business sale agreement/authority letter
- Company letterhead confirmation
Step 5: Submit the completed form and supporting documents to support.
Step 6: Wait for verification and completion confirmation by email.
Important Notes
- For .au domains, Change of Registrant rules and eligibility checks may apply.
- Submitting an incomplete form can delay processing.
- Services remain under the current owner until transfer approval is complete.
Typical processing time: 1 to 3 business days after all valid documents are received.
