Step-by-Step Guide to Set Up a POP or IMAP Email Account on Android Outlook

Step 1: Open the Outlook App

  • Launch the Outlook app from your Android phone's app drawer.
  • If it’s your first time using the app, you’ll be prompted to Add an Account. Otherwise, go to Settings and tap Add Account.

Step 2: Enter Your Email Address

Step 3: Choose IMAP or POP3

  • On the next screen, choose between IMAP or POP depending on your preference:
    • IMAP (Recommended for syncing across multiple devices)
    • POP (Downloads emails to your device and removes them from the server)

Step 4: Enter Your Email Account Details

  • Fill in the following information based on whether you’re using IMAP or POP:

IMAP Settings:

  • Incoming Mail Server:
    • IMAP server: mail.mydomain.com.au
    • Port: 993
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
    • SMTP server: mail.mydomain.com.au
    • Port: 465 or 587
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Username: Your full email address (e.g., [email protected])
  • Password: Your email password

POP Settings:

  • Incoming Mail Server:
    • POP server: mail.mydomain.com.au
    • Port: 995
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
    • SMTP server: mail.mydomain.com.au
    • Port: 465 or 587
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Username: Your full email address (e.g., [email protected])
  • Password: Your email password

Step 5: Complete the Setup

  • Tap Next to let Outlook verify your settings.
  • If successful, you’ll be prompted to choose how often you want Outlook to check for new emails.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

  • Review the account settings and tap Done.
  • Your account should now be set up and ready for use. You can now start sending and receiving emails on your Android device.
